Upstanding... by a Tree?

Popular With the Tourists

Probably because he is awfully cute.

We used our new camera's in-camera HDR setting for this one.  I think it worked well, for a first try.

Mixed Signals

This guy waves.
But he has some fearsome (ish) choppers.

Creepy and Hungry!

Found this guy eating my tomatoes.
Not pleased.
He's been evicted.

Like Water Off a Duck's Back

I am not sure where that phrase originated, but it does seem that water does indeed fly off a duck's back with ease!

Sleeping Sun Bear

His pillow doesn't look that comfortable to me.

Good Old Puppy

We see this guy on our walks every Thursday night.  He's always laying on the driveway as the sun sets.  It takes him a bit longer to realize we are walking by, as the years pass, but eventually he always has a nice greeting for us.

Flower Garden

At the Mall?  Yep - one of our local malls always has beautiful flower arrangements in their flower beds, changed seasonally.  We're lucky to have it!

New Concept in Car Rentals

Car2go is a new company in San Diego offering a new idea for car rental - car sharing.  Here's what their website says:

The future of urban mobility begins literally on every corner with car2go – where one of several car2go vehicles is waiting for you around the clock. Whether for a quick shopping trip to Mission Valley, dinner at the Gaslamp, or a drive to PB to spend a day at the beach, it’s up to you where you go.
Our free floating concept means there is no return time or return location. When you’re done, simply park the car back within the operating area and the car2go service team takes care of the rest. Recharging, cleaning, roadside assistance, GPS navigation, insurance, parking and many other services are all included in the affordable rental price. car2go is just what it sounds like: a car to go.
Interesting concept. They seem to have a lot of these electric cars all over the city. Would you rent one?

When It Is Hot, What Is Better Than This?

(Also, Chargers won last night, Packers and Bears lost, and the NFL did not come to an end with a female referee.  And the Vikings did not lose.  OK, so they did not play, but that is a technicality.  All in all a good evening.)

Prepping for the Big Game

Today is a big day in the NFL.  (And for my Wisconsin readers, not because we've got the Pack in town.  Which is difficult for this fan who bleeds Purple and Gold....)

Today is the day that the first ever female referee in the NFL will officiate a game!  And it will be here in San Diego.

August Theme Day: Numbers

Today is August 1st and the theme day among the CityDailyPhoto community (which is temporary hosted on Facebook until the portal gets fixed) is numbers.

1982, the year that this fine restaurant was established.  Extra points to those who can figure out why this might be significant to me.
