Head to Head
Two legends of unlimited hydroplane meet head to head. Could Jimmy Shane make it three wins in a row in the 5 Graham Trucking? And would the 63 point lead in 2013 season standings that Steve David carried into the Sunday heats driving the 1 Oh Boy! Oberto still be there at the end of the day, giving the retiring veteran his seventh driver’s championship?

City Daily Photo October Theme Day: Details
Today's worldwide Daily Photo theme is "Detail." This is the first of this week's posts from a day on the bay - not the bee's knees, but those of a seagull.

Go Car Helmet Heads
Last weekend, we took a tour of San Diego in one of these little cars:
Go Tours in San Diego is a super-fun way to spend a couple of hours seeing the city from a different perspective!

City Daily Photo August Theme Day: Lamp Posts
Two lamp posts for the price of one - one standard-issue downtown lamp post, but one is more unusual.
When development of the area began in the 1860s, the area currently known as the Gaslamp Quarter was known as New Town, in contrast to Old Town, which was the original Spanish colonial settlement of San Diego. The name "Gaslamp Quarter" is a reference to the gas lamps that were common in San Diego in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Four new gaslamps have been installed at the intersection of Market Street and 5th Avenue to evoke that time. The lamp post on the right of the above photo is one of them.

Something is Amiss...
Or amiss-ing, anyway! The beautiful and historic Star of India is normally docked here, but today is out - perhaps taken by pirates? Hmm...
