PanAmerican Exhibition

Carol (St. Paul Daily Photo) reminded me about Balboa's Park's hisory with the Panama Canal (through which I just cruised). The park was created for the Pan American Exhibition which celebrated the completion of the Panama Canal in 1915.

This carving, above one of the buildings, shows a ship sailing though the Panama Canal and has the date 1915.

  1. It's amazing some of the art work that goes into these buildings. It looks like it would have taken awhile.

  2. I know what you mean - I love wandering through the park and finding new sights. Today was the first time I had seen this little gem.

Wow. Nice photo. Nice architectural element that would cost an arm and a leg to duplicate today. Fascinating narrative.
